Winners of Swimmathon 2018, Shushrut Kapse and Himani Fadke are all set to represent India at FINA World Championships. The event was organized by Square Off Sports and recognized by Swimming Federation of India as the official National Selection Trials to represent India at International events in Open water Swimming category. Shushrut Kapse and Himani Fadke won the 10 KM races in the male and female categories respectively. Dev Ambokar and Shalmali Walujkar took home the winners trophies in the 5 KM race categories for male and female categories respectively. The winners were awarded at the hands of Mr Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and Sports, Government of Goa as the Chief Guest of the event in esteemed presence eminent personalities including Shri Kamlesh Nanavati, General Secretary, Swimming Federation of India; Shri Pradeep Kumar, Indian National Swimming Coach and Dronacharya Award recipient; Shri Rakesh Sundarka, Branch Manager, LIC – Margaon II; Shri. Murli Rao – COO Manipal Hospitals. Shri Yugal Sharma – Founder, vBelieve Sports, Ms. Morzenia Coutinho – Director, Longuinhos Beach Resort; Shri. Ashish Agarwal – Managing Director, Square Off Sports along with Swimmathon brand ambassador - Virdhawal Khade, 2014 Asian Games Bronze medalist and Arjuna Awardee. The four winners will get an opportunity to represent India at the upcoming FINA World Championships and other international events including Asian Games 2018.
In its sixth edition, Swimmathon - India’s Premier Open Water Swimming Championship, witnessed an audience of over 700 participants being cheered on with their coaches, friends and family members at the popular Colva Beach in South Goa. This year, Swimmathon had announced the highest cash prize in Indian Open Water Swimming history with a total cash purse of around Rs. 4, 00,000. The winners of 10KM races and 5KM races in both Male and Female categories won Rs. 50,000 each and Rs. 25,000 each respectively.

Swimmathon is a stepping stone for the Indian swimmers to become an International-level sports personality and represent India at events in Open Water Swimming Category. I am positive that Swimmathon is a great initiative that will help Swimming emerge as a serious sport in India and provide opportunities to all the aspiring swimmers. Swimming Federation of India wants to leverage on Swimmathon as a platform to identify a talent pool of open water swimmers and create a roadmap for the forthcoming international meets.”
